Planes collide in a new mural in New Orleans.
The murals, which were commissioned by the Louisiana State Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard, were installed by the Gulf Coast Artists Collective and are located on the side of the Uptown Waterfront.
The installation is part of a larger effort by the artists to raise awareness of the state’s environmental challenges.
They hope it will help to galvanize support for state and local governments to take steps to tackle climate change.
The mural shows the state flag above a field of bluegrass and is a tribute to the hurricane Katrina victims and the men and women who worked to rescue them.
It was commissioned by Louisiana State Guardsmen and Coast Guard personnel and was funded through a grant from the National Park Service.
The group hopes to continue their efforts in New York City and beyond in the coming months.
