A 3D mural by Chicago artist Ryan D’Antonio in front of the Capitol steps in Washington, D.C. has won a contest to be the centerpiece of a massive new mural in the city of Chicago.
The mural, titled “MVP, MIX: A Soldier’s Story,” features an image of two Chicago players on the side of a building in downtown Chicago.
It was unveiled in May.
“This is the beginning of something bigger than me,” D’Angelo said in a video message to the Chicago Art Council.
“It is a tribute to the city and the players who made it.”
The 3D-printed version of the mural will be unveiled next month, when the full mural is complete.
The Washington Post first reported the mural’s victory.
